Technicolor Network Services purchases Marquis’ Medway Media Exchange System
Marquis Broadcast, a specialist in broadcast workflow studies and software solutions, has won a major order from Technicolor Network Services for the company’s Medway media exchange system and workflow consultancy services.
Technicolor Network Services will use Medway as the media highway component of a new postproduction archive integration project now being implemented in its network operations centre in Tokyo, Japan.
Medway manages the seamless flow of media files between various stand-alone broadcasting systems to ensure files are delivered quickly and easily to workstations, without incurring compatibility problems due to the different operating systems. Technicolor Network Services and Marquis Broadcast will work together to carry out the integration, which will be completed by July 2006.
“We are looking forward to a productive business relationship with Marquis following our purchase of the Medway system,” said Akey Hirano, General Manager of the Technicolor Network Services facility in Tokyo. “Medway is a very powerful and much-needed media exchange solution that supports the optimisation of our customers’ postproduction workflows in tapeless environments, without the worry of transferring files between different hardware platforms.”
Media files are moved between Avid Unity, Front Porch DIVA Archive Control, Thomson Grass Valley Profile video servers, and an OmniBus Windows Media Proxy Shot Selector using Medway’s powerful exchange capabilities. Medway takes edit decision lists (EDLs) generated within OmniBus, and moves them into the Avid systems, while restoring the appropriate media from archive. Finished sequences are then published to the Profile video server and the OmniBus automation system for quality control and transmission.
