Front Porch Digital utilised by Ascent Media for archive management at Discovery origination centres

Front Porch Digital (FPD), the broadcast and media division of Incentra Solutions, has been selected by Ascent Media Network Services (AMNS) as the archival system provider for the global origination facilities that serve Discovery Communications. Integrated into Ascent Media facilities in London and Singapore and Discovery’s US origination centre, the Discovery Television and Technology Centre, Front Porch’s DIVArchive archive management software will help support production and playout in 60 of Discovery’s 90 global networks, serving subscribers in North America, Europe, and Asia.
“The DIVArchive system brings an enhanced flexibility to Discovery’s operations worldwide,” said Jim McGrath, CTO at Ascent. “The success of any network origination centre relies on the ability to link resources and components in a seamless digital-content supply chain, and Front Porch provides this functionality.”
The creation of the new origination centres stemmed from a Discovery initiative to fully migrate to file-based platforms, enabling more dynamic operations with enterprise-wide access to video assets. Front Porch Digital’s DIVArchive (Distributed Intelligent Versatile Archive) simplifies the process of preserving, managing, and accessing Discovery content by facilitating interoperability between the facilities‚ large digital media storage devices, video servers, editing systems, and digital media workflow applications.
