Digital Vision announces 10x speed improvement for Nucoda colour correction system

Digital Vision has announced the introduction of a new 8-core, 4-processor workstation that provides a blistering ten-fold increase in speed for data-centric colour correction.
The new 8-core platform is fully compatible with all Nucoda software, including the Nucoda Film Master colour grading, editing, effects, and conforming system. The systems integrator for the new platform is BOXX Technologies, Inc., one of Digital Vision’s strategic partners. The new workstation will begin shipping in Q4 2005.
This revolutionary system incorporates the latest 64-bit AMD Dual Core Opteron processors and nVIDIA graphics processing units. The Nucoda architecture allows the software to take advantage of the additional CPU cores immediately; customers with existing Nucoda systems can upgrade their platforms and see enormous speed improvements right away. In addition, forthcoming releases of Nucoda software will allow the system to make more efficient use of the processing power in this platform, resulting in successively faster performance over time.
The new 8-core workstation supports real time 4k colour correction, as well as work in 2k, HD and SD resolutions. The new platform supports all standard data-centric I/O, as well as 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 SD and HD video I/O. The Nucoda system also allows the platform to process files stored on a SAN; project data does not have to be moved into a local environment, which saves time and money in a busy DI facility.
Digital Vision provides innovative image restoration, enhancement, colour correction and data conforming systems that major movie studios, television networks and post-production facilities use to produce and enhance feature films, TV programs and commercials. The company’s Nucoda product line provides a strong suite of products for the burgeoning digital intermediate 2K/4K market.
The company’s award-winning products are a standard of the media & entertainment industry and are deployed at top facilities around the world.
Digital Vision AB was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, with two wholly owned subsidiaries, Digital Vision (US) in Los Angeles, California, and Nucoda Ltd in London, England.
