Response Studio Chooses PSI Audio A25-M Monitors And SUB A125-M Subwoofers

Reponse Studio, founded by sound creator and engineer David Brand in Marin near Neuchâtel, Switzerland, has selected PSI Audio A25-M three-way monitor speakers paired with SUB A125-M subwoofers as the foundation of its monitoring system.

Designed to provide a creative environment that balances technical precision with a personal approach, Reponse Studio serves artists, brands and creators across music production, sound design and post-production. Brand says reliable monitoring is essential to making confident creative decisions and ensuring productions translate accurately across different listening environments.

Brand's approach to Reponse Studio is shaped by his early connection to music and his background in engineering and technology.

"Since childhood I have been drawn to music, DJing, and the way a track can create an immediate emotional impact," he explained his motivation. "Over time, I wanted to create a place where I could bring these different worlds together: technical discipline, precision, and reliability on the one side; creativity, emotion, and artistic support on the other. Reponse Studio was born from that vision."

With experience in automation and IT, Brand applied project management principles to the studio’s operation, creating structured workflows designed to support both technical requirements and client relationships.

"For me, a modern studio should not only be a place filled with equipment. It should offer a real working experience for artists and clients. I place a lot of importance on project follow-up, communication, and trust."

The studio includes processes and digital tools that allow clients to follow projects, manage communication and access files in a controlled environment.

Brand's career has included work on music productions, ghost production projects, sound design and post-production for international films. While some projects did not include public credit, they provided valuable experience in creating content designed to perform across different platforms and environments.

"I have worked a lot in music production, including ghost production projects," said Brand, referring to productions he worked on, but wouldn’t get credited for. "Some of the tracks I contributed to charted on several occasions, and one of them even became, at one point, one of the most listened-to tracks in the world on streaming platforms."

Reflecting on those experiences, Brand highlights the importance of technical accuracy and emotional impact.

"It is a very particular experience, because in this kind of work, the role often remains discreet. But it gave me a concrete understanding of what it means to create a production capable of reaching a very large audience. The sound has to work emotionally, but also technically, across all listening systems and in every context.

"These milestone productions are not just references for me; they have shaped the way I work today."

A key element of Brand's production philosophy is the integration of analogue equipment into a modern digital workflow. Reponse Studio features an extensive collection of outboard gear, including an analogue summing mixer used to add depth, width and character to mixes.

"I really enjoy working with a hybrid chain," he elaborated on his approach. "Outboard has to bring something concrete to the music, whether it is depth, movement, cohesion, or a specific colour. One of the central pieces in my workflow is the analogue summing mixer. I use it to bring more dimension, width and depth to a mix. It helps move beyond a purely digital approach and brings a more organic feeling, while still keeping a high level of precision."

Brand also uses analogue dynamics processing to shape performances and enhance mixes.

At the centre of Reponse Studio's monitoring system are PSI Audio A25-M three-way monitors, complemented by two SUB A125-M subwoofers to provide extended low-frequency accuracy.

Brand said the monitoring system is critical to every production decision, from recording and mixing through to mastering.

"All of my equipment only makes sense if the monitoring allows me to make the right decisions," Brand stressed the importance of his listening setup. "In recording, mixing, or mastering, every decision is based on the trust I have in my monitoring system. If the monitoring is not reliable, it is very easy to correct problems that do not actually exist, or to miss important details. I need a system that shows me the reality of the signal, without artificially flattering the sound."

Brand first experienced PSI Audio monitors around a decade ago while working in another studio and was immediately impressed by their accuracy.

"I was immediately struck by their precision, stability, and by the feeling of hearing the signal without any artificial filter."

He said the PSI Audio system provides the confidence needed to evaluate tonal balance, depth, dynamics, vocal positioning and low-end response while ensuring mixes translate effectively outside the studio.
