Channel 4 Recommissions Yorkshire By The Sea and Devon & Cornwall

Channel 4 has recommissioned two factual series from Yorkshire-based production company True North, ordering a second series of Yorkshire By The Sea and a sixth series of Devon & Cornwall.

Yorkshire By The Sea will return for a five-episode run, once again spotlighting the people, communities and landscapes of North Yorkshire and East Yorkshire through stories from those living and working along the county’s coastline.

Set across a 100-mile stretch of shoreline, the series follows residents and workers along the coast, from the seaside towns of Saltburn and Scarborough in the north to Spurn Point in the south. The programme focuses on the lives and experiences of local people and the communities they support.

The new series will also continue to explore the impact of environmental challenges facing the region, particularly coastal erosion and climate change, examining how local communities are adapting through innovation, industry and new business ventures while seeking to preserve traditional ways of life and protect wildlife habitats.

Meanwhile, Devon & Cornwall will return for five additional episodes, continuing to document life across the South West through the perspectives of local residents, including farmers, fishermen, shopkeepers and those working in tourism.

The long-running series has built a following through its portrayal of communities and businesses operating across one of the UK’s most recognisable landscapes.

Both programmes were commissioned by Channel 4’s Nations and Regions and Lifestyle teams, with Jasper Hone serving as Commissioning Executive and Jo Street as Director of Commissioning, Nations & Regions and Head of Lifestyle.

Christian Hills will executive produce both series for True North.
