PSI Audio Adds LFE Capability To A326 D-REX

PSI Audio has introduced an update to its A326 D-REX Dynamic Range Extender, adding low-frequency effects (LFE) input capabilities to enhance performance in immersive and cinematic audio environments.

Announced from Yverdon-les-Bains on 1 April 2026, the update enables the A326 D-REX to integrate LFE signals alongside stereo inputs, allowing the system to reproduce the full low-frequency spectrum without requiring a separate subwoofer. Existing units can also be upgraded with the new panel.

Designed to complement PSI Audio's A226-MAIN monitor speakers, the A326 D-REX extends the dynamic range of the full-range monitoring system. Together, the two components form the largest monitoring setup the company has produced, maintaining its focus on precision and sonic accuracy.

The addition of LFE connectivity expands the system’s application into cinematic and immersive formats, including those aligned with Dolby Atmos standards. With a frequency range of 20 Hz to 160 Hz and peak sound pressure of 126 dB, the A326 D-REX is capable of handling demanding low-frequency content.

The updated design includes a dedicated LFE input section, allowing separate input from stereo signals, as well as a link output for forwarding the signal to additional units. When both stereo and LFE inputs are used, the system combines them to reproduce the full low-frequency signal range, with adjustable levels between -10 and +10 dB.

PSI Audio said the enhancement aligns with its core philosophy of delivering uncoloured, distortion-free sound reproduction. The addition of LFE support enables audio professionals to more accurately monitor low-frequency content across film, music and other applications.

All PSI Audio speakers, including the A326 D-REX, are designed and manufactured in-house at the company’s Swiss facility in Yverdon-les-Bains, where each unit undergoes detailed testing and is supplied with its own measurement graph.

The updated A326 D-REX is now shipping with the new LFE panel as standard, with all future units including the feature by default.
