Nevion Launches The MOXELA Platform
Nevion, part of the Sony group, has announced the launch of MOXELA, a new software-based media processing platform designed to transform how live video, audio, and data are transported, processed, and monitored.
The platform will be showcased at the Sony booth during the NAB Show 2026, highlighting its role within Nevion’s Networked Live ecosystem.
MOXELA is built to run on commercial off-the-shelf servers or in cloud environments and is natively integrated with Nevion's VideoIPath media orchestration platform. It enables users to combine modular media functions to create high-quality, low-latency applications for broadcast facilities, contribution networks, and remote or cloud-based production workflows.
The platform supports key industry standards including SMPTE ST 2110 and NDI, as well as the emerging Media Exchange Layer (MXL), an initiative backed by organisations such as the Linux Foundation, European Broadcasting Union, and North American Broadcasters Association. MXL is designed to standardise real-time, in-memory exchange of uncompressed media and metadata between software applications.
Through its integration with VideoIPath, MOXELA provides unified control, orchestration, and monitoring of both its own media applications and third-party systems, whether deployed on-premises or in the cloud. This approach aims to simplify live production workflows while improving efficiency and reducing deployment complexity.
Developed with a cloud-native architecture, MOXELA supports containerised deployment across a range of environments, offering scalability and flexibility for media organisations. It also aligns with industry frameworks such as the European Broadcasting Union's Digital Media Factory initiative, promoting interoperability and reducing reliance on proprietary infrastructure.
