Matrox Video To Showcase Future of Software-Defined Broadcast Production

Matrox Video will present its vision for the future of live broadcast production at NAB Show 2026 in Las Vegas from April 19–22, highlighting how broadcasters and media organisations can transition toward software-defined infrastructures designed to improve flexibility and operational efficiency.

Exhibiting at booth N2451, the company will demonstrate its range of broadcast workflow technologies aimed at connecting today’s open standards-based IP infrastructure with the next generation of software-defined production models.

Central to Matrox Video’s presence at the show will be Matrox ORIGIN, an asynchronous media framework designed as a deployment-ready foundation for the European Broadcasting Union’s Dynamic Media Facility (DMF) vision. The platform runs on standard IT infrastructure—either on-premises or in the cloud—and replaces traditional bespoke broadcast hardware connected through synchronous protocols such as ST 2110 or SDI.

At the core of the system is the Matrox ORIGIN Fabric, which provides an MXL-compatible uncompressed media exchange layer enabling secure, application-level content sharing between vendors in distributed environments built on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware.

By separating media processing from dedicated hardware while integrating high-performance transport and control capabilities, Matrox ORIGIN is designed to support low-latency, resilient and scalable broadcast workflows. The company says this approach enables organisations to implement the DMF production model beyond basic IP transport systems.

"The broadcast industry is moving toward software-defined and IP-based production models," said Alberto Cieri, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Matrox Video. "With Matrox ORIGIN and our comprehensive IP portfolio, we enable customers to achieve greater flexibility and operational efficiency while maintaining the performance and reliability expected in live broadcast environments."

Alongside Matrox ORIGIN, the company will also showcase a range of IP-based production tools supporting workflows from capture through to delivery. These include Matrox Monarch EDGE for secure, low-latency encoding and decoding in remote production and distribution; Matrox ConvertIP, which enables zero-latency bridging between SDI and ST 2110/IPMX environments; and Matrox Vion, a multi-channel 4K IP gateway capable of encoding, decoding, transcoding and cross-conversion across live and cloud-based production systems.

Also on display will be Matrox Avio 2, an ST 2110/IPMX and NMOS-enabled IP KVM extender designed to support high-resolution signal extension over standard networks. Together, the solutions aim to provide scalable pathways for broadcasters transitioning to IP-based production.

The portfolio is further supported by the company’s developer-focused broadcast technologies, including SMPTE ST 2110 network interface cards, SDI input and output video cards, and high-density H.264 encoders and decoders.

As Matrox Video marks its 50th anniversary, the company says it continues to focus on delivering open and interoperable IP production technologies. With support for standards including IPMX, SMPTE ST 2110 and NMOS, the firm aims to help broadcasters integrate equipment from multiple vendors while maintaining high levels of reliability and engineering performance.
