APTN Library adds WWF's 'unique footage' to archive

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the global conservation organisation, has agreed to make APTN Library the commercial representative for its "unique video archive".
More than 1,500 hours of footage will become available through APTN Library, and further material will be added as produced by WWF. The footage comes from WWF's in-house television unit which provides images to accompany WWF campaigns and stories. It includes field rushes and edited items.
Tanya Petersen, Head of Television for WWF said the archive was a "unique resource" which would now become more accessible.
"WWF is active in more than 100 countries and through documenting the organisation's field work, WWF camera crews have access to some of the most remote places and peoples on earth. Through our new relationship with the APTN Library we are delighted that this unique footage will become accessible to a much wider audience," she said.
The content is extremely varied, ranging from hard-news issues such as illegal trade to spectacular images from around the world. It includes footage on: wildlife; habitats; human development; and environmental issues.
APTN Library is the video archive of Associated Press Television News, and one of the world's leading sources of archive footage. Other partners represented by APTN Library include the US network ABC News, ABC Australia and Vatican TV.
Christopher O'Hearn, Head of Content Development for APTN, welcomed the relationship with WWF.
"As a news organisation we are very aware of the interest in these issues and I believe it will be an excellent fit to our content and for our customers. But I'm also excited by the spectacular images in the WWF archive, something that is harder to find in a news-based collection," he said.
The WWF material is searchable on APTN Library's database at www.aptnlibrary.com and has also been compiled into geographical clipreels.
