ProSiebenSat.1 Produktion invest in generationQ technology

Berlin-based ProSiebenSat.1 Produktion has placed a major order for a Quantel broadcast server system to equip its 24-hour rolling news channel, N24.
The company belongs to the ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG group, whose scope of business activities ranges from OB, production and post, through to creative solutions (including on-air design and promotion, audio design, advertising), broadcasting services, broadcasting technologies and IT. Reliability in all areas, of course, is vital across all the company's business fields, but when it comes to N24 it is critical.
"N24 broadcasts up-to-date news 24 hours a day, seven days a week," explained Frank Meißner, Director of ProSiebenSat.1, "therefore for us dependability is the most important factor. That is exactly what Quantel's sQ server provides us with, whether that is in browse or broadcast resolution.
We know that with the ISA database architecture we are in safe hands for the playout of N24."
Two sQ servers (one four-port with 50 hour's storage, one six-port with 100 hours) will drive N24 operating under an over-arching Quantel ISA database. This will be coupled with six QEdit Pro craft editing stations and 10 QCut and QView seats for journalists, editors and producers, giving multiple users access to the same material as soon as it hits the servers.
"And, of course," concludes Meißner, "the technology will support our production team to get news on-air faster and better."
