Polar appointed as Huge Systems exclusive distributor for UK and Ireland

Polar Graphics has signed an agreement with Huge Systems for the exclusive distribution rights of Huge’s products in the UK and Ireland.
Huge Systems, located in Agoura Hills, California, designs and manufactures low cost, high performance hard disk based storage systems optimised for the non-linear editing, content creation and delivery markets.
The company is focused on providing best-of-breed storage solutions for video intensive applications, from uncompressed HD video editing to collaborative multi-seat DV production. Its products have been qualified by many major vendors including DPS, DVS, Matrox and Pinnacle, and has thousands of satisfied OEM and end-user customers worldwide.
Garry Davis, Technical Director Polar Graphics, said: "I am excited about the Huge products. The same five drive U320-R array can support either a multi-stream real-time uncompressed SD project, or a single stream uncompressed HD project. It also looks great, comes in high capacities at reasonable prices and has a three year warranty, what else could a customer want?
“I also think that their (Huge Systems) SAN Stream product which integrates server, storage and 1G Ethernet switch into a single box is very exciting. It can sustain up to 12 simultaneous streams of DV over Ethernet which makes it a highly cost effective alternative to Storage Area Networking (SAN) for customers working with DV”.
Davis continued: “By distributing Huge Systems products in addition to Medea storage solutions we have increased the strength and depth of the range we offer our customers. Coupling this with other new products we expect to be introduced at NAB by both Huge and Medea, we believe that this will help us reach our goal of becoming the distributor of choice for all our dealers storage needs.”
