Videmix retrobytes sign deal for historic BBC archive footage
Worcestershire based company Videmix has announced the launch of 'retrobytes' a DVD product based on their innovative and world leading DVD production and fulfilment system.
Retrobytes enables a customer to compile a collection of video clips from its Internet based ‘pick and mix’ menu of unique archive material. Once chosen the collection is ordered online in the form of a personalised presentation DVD.
Videmix recently signed a five-year expandable contract with the BBC who will provide archive video footage of an in-depth selection of Rugby match highlights, including the ‘Try of the Century’ by Gareth Edwards in the 1973 match between the Barbarians and New Zealand.
Andrew Grant, BBC Manager of Sports Archives Sales, commented: “We are very pleased to be associated with Videmix and see their high-tech service as being a real added benefit to the general public.
“It goes without saying that to have the chance to own a personal piece of archive history will be heaven sent for lots of people.”
Research from Videmix confirmed a gap in the marketplace for a bespoke DVD facility, for both individuals and memorabilia collectors alike, which has recently been strengthened by the BBC footage contract.
The system works by logging on to the website at www.retrobytes.tv and completing a personal request and details within the Videmix developed on-screen Coreviewer. The easy navigation system includes a brief preview of the clip that you are interested in, together with a short description to aid the customers' searches. Before ordering is complete, there is an option to add background music, an image and personalised text to the menu screen of the DVD – ideal when the DVD is a gift or present for someone. The DVD is then sent direct to the chosen address, in a bright silver effect ‘retro’ tin.
Catherine Marsh, Director of Videmix said: “Our state-of-the-art technology is now available through ‘retrobytes’ providing footage holders with an alternative means of distribution and also giving the public the opportunity to access previously unobtainable footage.
“The flexibility to be able to compile a personalised DVD, of up to 80 minutes long of your chosen content, is now a reality - and if you are struggling for a gift for the person that has everything – we really can help!”
Current archive material available includes sport from the BBC, and movie trailers from Clips and Footage, with their archive growing constantly.
