Automatic Duck simplify import of Avid timelines and effects to Final Cut Pro

Automatic Duck, a software company providing workflow solutions to digital media artists, have announced the release of Automatic Duck Pro Import FCP 1.0, a plug-in for the recently released Final Cut Pro (FCP) 4.1 that allows editors to import Avid Open Media Format (OMF) files into FCP.
"The appealing price point of FCP and the availability of various high-performance video capture cards have made it possible for editors to create very nice FCP-based finishing systems," said Automatic Duck President Wes Plate. "Automatic Duck Pro Import FCP 1.0 enables such editors to offline their projects on an Avid editing system, even older ABVB-based systems, and export their timelines into low-cost FCP systems for flexible and affordable finishing."
Automatic Duck Pro Import FCP 1.0 is the industry's first and only solution that provides a simple, fast, and robust alternative to the complex, hit-or-miss process of translating Avid timelines to FCP using edit decision list (EDL) files. Because this long-awaited plug-in makes use of Avid's OMF file format, it is capable of preserving all layers and many Avid effects throughout translation to FCP 4.1. The new plug-in from Automatic Duck is also the first major product to take advantage of Apple's XML interchange technology. Advanced Authoring Format (AAF) support will be included in a near-term update.
