On-Air Systems announce worldwide shipping of new digital disk recorder

On-Air Systems, leading developer of broadcast automation solutions, have announced that the On-Air VDR will begin shipping from February 1 2004.
On-Air VDR, a new digital video disk recorder, provides multi-channel capture, playback, storage and manipulation of video and audio.
Based on open industry standards, On-Air VDR can be used as a stand-alone disk recorder or as part of a large network of video servers under the control of external automation software. On-Air VDR functions as a production server enabling the production process to become file based.
The unit supports all major manufacturers’ control protocols, facilitating integration within an existing broadcast automation environment. It also supports a range of media file formats including: MPEG-2, DV, DVCPro, DVCPro50 and NTSC/PAL video standards. On-Air VDR includes remote VTR and DDR serial control, external VTR/DDR control, virtual tape emulation, playlist management, and the ability to record and play simultaneously.
