Tyrell supply HD upgrade DGP for events and film markets

Tyrell, a leading provider of technology to the UK post-production and broadcast industry, has announced another major sale of Discreet equipment to leading London post-production house DGP.
A new customer to Tyrell, DGP has upgraded its Discreet smoke editing and finishing system from SD to HD capabilities and purchased major upgrades to its flint systems. Tyrell’s expert team of Discreet engineers will also provide full technical support to all of DGP’s Discreet systems.
DGP upgraded its smoke system due to the increased demand from two markets: the events companies that need HD resolution for video walls and trade exhibition stands; plus Hollywood studios requiring film resolution or HD work on marketing projects such as cinematic trailers. The smoke will also be used on a variety of post-production projects for broadcast that DGP is currently working on. Various speed and workflow improvements have also been provided from the upgrades to the company’s flint systems.
Julian Day, Managing Director, DGP, said: “The company has a professional, efficient team with good support engineers – which is just what we need and expect.”
Simon Brett, Managing Director, Tyrell adds: “Since Tyrell’s appointment as a Discreet reseller we have had a variety of companies buy equipment from us and also come to us for upgrades and support. DGP is a perfect example of this and confirms the high standard of technical support that we can provide.”
DGP is a digital post-production and new media facility based in Soho, London. Established in 1995 the company offers Avid offline and online editing suites, Discreet compositing (Smoke and Flint) and finishing as well as DVD authoring and multimedia. The company has grown rapidly from its birth of one Avid offline suite and two people so that it now occupies 6000 square feet and employs over 40 people, turning over in excess of £2.5 million per annum.
Recent projects completed at DGP are: Murder in Mind for the BBC (Smoke), Austin Powers in Goldmember for New Line (DVD), Gorillaz: Phase One Celebrity Takedown for EMI (DVD).
Tyrell is a leading provider of digital nonlinear solutions. With fully operational premises in London, Bristol, Manchester and Dublin, Tyrell is able to supply and support customers across the UK and Ireland on a local basis.
