RTI Group to exhibit video and film products at NAB

The Research Technology International Group (RTI) of companies – RTI, Lipsner-Smith Company and BHP Inc. – will exhibit professional film and video products at NAB 2002, booth L7147.
RTI have introduced the TapeChek Pro Line 5100 Recycling and Rejuvenation System for DVCPRO and DVCAM cassettes, in response to the development of the DVCPRO professional videotape format. This advanced unit recycles videotapes quickly and easily.
The Pro Line 5100 cleans and polishes the tape surface, removing loose particles and dust. Tape damage is located by a multi-cell hi-resolution defect detector, which scans the tape from edge to edge and reliably locates edge damage, wrinkles and creases. The product can automatically evaluate blank tapes or recorded tapes without affecting the recorded material. The 5100 can recycle a two-hour tape in as little as three minutes.
Also on display will be the TapeChek Pro Line 4100DLS Recycling and Rejuvenation System with LaserSCAN detector for Digital Betacam. Pro Line 4100 works up to 25 times Betacam NTSC speed (30X PAL) and is fully automatic offering optional ERASE that removes all recorded material from oxide and metal tapes when selected.
Lipsner-Smith Company will exhibit the Emmy Award winning CF-8200 Ultrasonic Motion Picture Film Cleaning System for use with Novec HFE-8200 from 3M Company. The system provides cost-effective cleaning results at up to double the speed of older film cleaners that use chlorinated solvents, such as troublesome perchloroethylene.
Also on display will be the EXCEL 2000 that efficiently removes surface dirt and contamination from the film. The film is passed over four molded polymer rollers, then thoroughly cleaned by means of eight softnap rotary buffers, which are wetted with environmentally friendly fluids such as isopropanol and naphtha.
ADVISOR, the new automatic film defect detection system will also be shown. This computerised system scans any colour film for scratches, digs, roller rubs, cinch marks, dirt hits, splices and more. Provides detailed accounting of damage as files and hardcopy form. Eliminates the need to view film frame by frame. Certifies condition of client's IP's, negatives and prints.
