About Supercharged Collection

Welcome To THE Supercharged Collection

The Supercharged Collection is an archive of motorsport images dating from the 1920’s through to the early 1980’s and is available for television, video, books, magazines and newspapers.

It contains both moving and still images. They range from Formula 1, through Formula 2 and 3 to saloon and GT car racing to bikes, to rallying and some go-kart racing.

Primarily UK-based images, we do have some U.S. and South African pictures.

Formula 1 is well catered for from the 1960’s and 1970’s, as is saloon car and GT racing.

The still photograph collection includes F1, F2, F3 etc from the early 60’s through to the early 1980’s. These include track, paddock and pitlane images.

Driver images include virtually everyone who was in the pitlane at that time ; Jackie Stewart, Graham Hill, John Surtees, Jim Clark, Emerson Fittipaldi, Dan Gurney, Jo Siffert, Carlos Reutemann, Colin Chapman, Frank Gardner and Ronnie Peterson etc.

The oldest movie film footage is of the 1929 Ards TT race, closely followed by film of the 1937 and 1938 British Grands Prix at Donington Park.

Immediate post-World War 2 film includes the Jersey International Road Race of April 1947 and the first British Grand Prix at Silverstone (in 16mm colour) in 1950.

There is even footage of soapbox derby racing from America in the early 1950’s (in colour!).

Into the 1960’s and 1970’s there is footage of various F1 races, plus the aforementioned F2 and F3 and saloon car races.

We have an amount of rallying film and video, notably the 1977 Welsh Rally and the 1986 R.A.C. Rally (some 4 hours of un-seen professional footage).

Non-UK footage includes the F3 and F1 races at Monaco in 1964, the sportscar races at Cumberland Airport in Maryland, USA in 1954, the Indy 500’s of 1965 and 1967 and Le Mans in the early 70’s (1970-1972).
