The Queen Leaves Hospital

All of the Queen's official engagements for this week have been canceled as she recovers, Buckingham Palace has confirmed. Earlier the Queen left hospital in central London where she was being assessed for gastroenteritis symptoms. She was admitted to London's King Edward VII's Hospital as a precaution. The 86-year-old monarch was taken to the hospital from Windsor Castle, where she had been resting, on Sunday. This was her first hospital stay in 10 years. Her Majesty's spokesperson said she was in "good spirits". "This is a precautionary measure," he said. "She was not taken into hospital immediately after feeling the symptoms. This is simply to enable doctors to better assess her." (GK)
