British Diplomatic Staff Brought Home From Syria
Foreign Secretary William Hague has ordered the withdrawal of all diplomatic staff from the British Embassy in Syria.
The move comes after the security situation deteriorated further overnight and violence increased.
Hague relayed his decision to Parliament in a letter stating: "British nationals who remain in Syria despite our longstanding and consistent message to leave the country should contact the embassy of any remaining European Union member state if they require consular assistance."
Communication with the area has been largely cut off, and people are struggling to get in or out.
Teen Jailed For Life Over James Frew Murder
The teenager who killed classmate Jack Frew has been jailed for life.
Craig Roy admitted the killing of 16-year-old Frew who was stabbed 20 times and had his throat slit. The judge described the attack as “brutal, sustained and merciless”.
Roy said he took the knife to the meeting with Frew to “scare him”, whom he claimed was blackmailing him.
Kylie To Perform For The Queen
It has been announced that Kylie Minogue will perform for the Queen at her Diamond Jubilee Concert.
The singer said: “To share the stage in front of Buckingham Palace with music legends including Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Tom Jones and Elton John in celebrating the Queen’s diamond jubilee is very exciting.”
Shirley Bassey, Alfie Boe, Jools Holland, Jessie J, JLS, Lang Lang, Annie Lennox, Madness, Cliff Richard and Ed Sheeran are some of the other acts who have been lined up to perform.
The gig will be broadcast live on BBC1 and on BBC Radio 2.
