MicW Comes To Europe

Beijing-based microphone manufacturer MicW, has begun a sales initiative targeting the European and American markets with four new ranges of high-quality condenser microphones for recording broadcast and live sound applications.
MicW is not a recent, fly-by-night company - it has something of a pedigree. In fact, the company has been in existence for over a decade, as an offshoot of the respected Beijing-based audio testing and acoustic consultancy company BSWA Tech.
BSWA is well-known in China as a manufacturer of highly accurate measurement microphones, daily use around the country in architectural acoustics, environmental noise and vibration testing and audio product test and measurement applications. From its custom-built 2000m2 factory with carefully separated manufacturing areas, test labs, an anechoic chamber and clean room, BSWA Tech has been designing, building and marketing real-time analysers, impulse response generators and the software necessary to analyse the output of these devices for many years. It is this design expertise - the work of five highly qualified acousticians - and high-quality production facility that lies behind MicW's mic ranges, albeit focused on the production of microphones for high-quality recording rather than test applications.
In addition, and unlike many other Far Eastern microphone manufacturers, MicW does not make products aimed at the extremely affordable end of the market - there are no super-budget U87 look-alikes in its range. Although the company's microphones are aimed at various price points, everything it manufactures stems from its parent company's high-quality, measurement-microphone design ethos. As a marker of this commitment to quality, all MicW products are sold with a five-year warranty.
In its first years of existence, MicW concentrated on manufacturing measurement mics for the international OEM market. However, the company now makes and retails four ranges under its own name in China, and has been extending availability of these products to Europe and the USA since Spring this year.
The high-quality N-series metal-body microphone feature lightweight nickel diaphragms with thin polymer coatings (hence the 'N' in the name), with models ranging from a large-diaphragm (1-inch) cardiod to a quarter-inch-diaphragm omnidirectional model and a reference microphone with a half-inch diaphragm. The more affordable E-series mics feature nickel or gold-coated polymer diaphragms and are available in cardiod, omni and shotgun models. The new mid-range M-series has a mixture of N-series and E-series capsules, while the sole omnidirectional mic in the G series omni and the N-series N101 large-diaphragm omnidirectional mic are being marketed by MicW in matched pairs, ideal for stereo recording of anything from a grand piano to a brass section or choir.
MicW is already in discussion with distributors in various European territories and is looking for companies to represent its products in the USA. Interested parties and those seeking further information about MicW's products should contact the company at: www.mic-w.com.
