Geevs Features At Broadcast Asia 2009

Gee Broadcast Systems will be showing the latest Geevs 4.5 software release at Broadcast Asia on Stand 7F4-01.
Geevs 4.5 supports the Geevs Slim, SD, SDE, HDE and MR series.
Version 4.5 brings several enhancements and support for additional file formats. Key features include:
  • Quicktime Record and Play
  • MXF Record and Play
  • AVI Record and Play with embedded audio in the AVI file
  • 720p support in HD for Geevs MR +
  • Virtual Tape Mode for Playout
  • Enhanced Playout to VTR tools
An extensive list of file formats are now supported natively which includes avi, mxf and Quicktime. These now allow direct file interchange with many systems including Sony HDXchange, Edius, FCP and Avid in addition to the previous support for Lightworks, Adobe Premiere and many other applications.
Also on display at Broadcast Asia will be the latest Lightworks 1.3 editing software with Native file support for MXF, AVI, Quicktime, RED R3D and DPX files.
Gee Broadcast will be highlighting the launch of two new low cost Geevs Servers for HD and SD applications. These are the Geevs Slim HD and Geevs HDE which are flexible SD/HD servers with Digital and Analogue i/o.
Geevs Slim HD is a compact 1RU Server with one input channel and one output channel which can operate as independent channels. Included is one Tbyte of storage for up to 18 hours at 100Mbits/sec. Additional external storage can also be used. Multiple Geevs Slim HD units can be combined to make a larger multichannel array under a common control interface.
The need for HD servers is increasing as more users prepare for, or make, the transition to HD and the Geevs Slim HD offers an affordable and compact entry to this HD Server market.
Geevs HDE is a 4RU Server with two inputs and two independent outputs. Up to six Tbytes of storage can be fitted internally or more added in an external chassis.
All the standard Geevs control Software is available for Geevs Slim HD and Geevs HDE allowing both of them to be used in a wide range of applications for Ingest, Management and Playout.
Both models feature SDI or component HD input and output, with Composite also available when running in SD. Audio can be embedded, AES/EBU or analogue. Clips can be encoded with MPEG2 or DVCPro100 codecs in AVI or Quicktime wrappers allowing easy file interchange with NLEs or other applications.
Geevs has always offered good value, but these new models provide a lower entry point for HD servers.
