Diginet Choose BAL For Translation Facilities At European Parliament

Following a European wide search Diginet chose BAL Broadcast to supply equipment for a large translation facility to be used in the new state of the art premises of the European Parliament in Brussels.
The order placed included the SVC5012, C5SV012 and BOXRACK30 and was in excess of £100K.
The BALBOX SVC5012 and C5SV012 are designed to be used in pairs to allow serial digital video to be sent over Cat5 and Cat6 UTP cable. This allows the structured cabling within a building to be used to provide full broadcast quality serial digital links where no provision for coaxial cables exists. The interfaces ensure impedance matching and balancing to enable Cat 5 UTP cable to be used over lengths of up to 115 metres with no errors on pathological test signals, while maintaining low radiation.
In May 2008 BAL Broadcast supplied Diginet with a pair of units for evaluation, these were found to far exceed the technical requirements of signal reliability and Cat5 cable length capability than the other competitors.
The equipment will be used in the new parliament buildings. There are 5 "rooms" housing identical sets of equipment each organised as 27 off centrally located SVC5012 sending units, mounted in three 3U high racks and 27 off C5SV012 separated receiving units. Each rack, BALRACK30, will hold nine of SVC5012 units, and the design has been tailored specifically for this enquiry.
Maurice de Jonghe, Chief Operating Officer, commented: "We are pleased to have been chosen by Diginet for such a prestigious project. Winning such a large order has been a great boost for all of the team at BAL."
