SGL At NAB 2009

Software Generation Ltd (SGL), a leading provider of Content Archive and Storage Management software solutions, will be exhibiting at NAB 2009 in Las Vegas at Stand: SU8508.
At NAB SGL will demonstrate to US broadcasters its Open System architecture, highlighting the substantial cost and workflow benefits that SGL's fully accessible systems provide.
SGL will introduce FlashBrowse II and the new XML-based API, major new technology evolutions that further enhance the Open System, and its key philosophies of providing reliable, scalable solutions that represent high ROI values and low cost of ownership.
SGL, still the only integrated archive solution currently sold by Avid for the Avid Interplay non-linear workflow engine, will also have a fully functional, fully integrated Avid Interplay on its stand, which will be demonstrated by first-class demo artists.
Making their worldwide debuts at the show are:
  • FlashBrowse II is a client-based web tool with powerful attributes that allow FlashNet users to capture simple metadata and archive and restore media from many different forms of archive. Web browser based, FlashBrowse II can be used on any platform - Mac, PC or Linux. Not only can users search for content held in the archive, they can view low res proxy versions without restoring the original material from the archive. Both simple and advanced searches are supported. FlashBrowse II allows the user to search for content in the archive and in a wide range of supported broadcast video servers.
  • XML Interface: This lightweight and simple to implement interface offers third-party developers the ability to get to the heart of a FlashNet archive without the burden of complex archive awareness. The socket-based API provides a robust and agile interface to FlashNet. Using the flexibility of standard CML, a full set of commands equivalent to the more traditional FlashNet API (FNAPI) is supported, along with new features that offer developers of third-party automation and Media Asset Management systems unrivalled awareness of a complete archive.
  • In addition to the end-to-end Avid Interplay Archive workflow, SGL will also demonstrate interoperability between Avid Interplay and Final Cut Pro using Marquis Medway's Media Highway technology.
SGL will also be demonstrating FlashBox. Based on SGL's FlashNet content archive and storage management software and best of breed hardware, FlashBox provides a number of technology and business benefits including, scalable disk and tape storage, whilst providing from 1,000 to 5250 hours of DV25 storage in a single appliance. When combined with FlashBrowse II, FlashBox represents the ultimate in entry-level storage and content management for even the most discerning broadcaster or post house.
