Tern TV Bolsters Team To Venture Into New Factual Formats

Independent production company Tern Television has announced three new appointments in a move that will see the indie push into further formatted factual series and high-end specialist factual.
The indie's development team has been staffed up with Fraser Brown appointed as Features Format Development Specialist and Helen Quinn as Specialist Factual Developer.
Tern Belfast has also brought in Colin Cameron, ex-Head of Documentary Features at the BBC and former Controller Nations Network Production, to support various projects as an executive producer.
Fraser joins Tern from the development team at RDF Media, where his recent successes included 'Rory & Paddys' Great British Adventure' (Five) and 'Phil Down Under' (C4).
Helen has come from the BBC, where she worked on hit productions such as 'Secret Life of a Manic Depressive with Stephen Fry' (BBC1). She has recently been working on Tern's upcoming Nick Crane series 'Britannia' (BBC2). Both new hires will be responsible for deepening development and using their experience to expand the company's production slate.
David Strachan, Managing Director, Tern Television, said: "This is a really exciting time for Tern.
The success of our teams throughout the UK, with acclaimed programmes such as 'Great British Journeys', 'KNTV', 'Spa of Embarassing Illnesses' and 'At Home with the Clearys', has meant that we are in a strong position to look at new areas of production and bring some strong talent on board.
As we move to seize the opportunities presented by the BBC Nations Commissioning Strategy Review and by Channel 4's Nations ambitions, we are really looking forward to the coming year."
Cameron will lend his expertise on a part-time basis to the Tern office in Northern Ireland, which recently won a prestigious Prix Italia 2008 award for 'At Home with the Clearys' (aka 'BBC Storyville - The Father, The Son and The Housekeeper', BBC4).
His experience includes working on a number of acclaimed factual documentaries and dramas such as 'Days That Shook The World' (Lion TV, History Channel) and the BAFTA award-winning 'Consenting Adults' (Lion TV, BBC4), as well as 'Pole to Pole with Michael Palin' (BBC1) and 'Castaway 2000 (BBC1) while at the BBC.
