Audioprojects Fuels Its Expansion With Two Fairlight Xynergi Media Production Systems

Audioprojects, one of Spain's leading film and television post production facilities, has significantly expanded its business by taking over the Barcelona studio complex formerly owned by DUY.
Audioprojects already operates five studios and four mixing theatres at its main complex housed in an 19th century manor house just outside Barcelona. The former DUY facility, which consists of three studios and a small Dolby certified dubbing theatre for film commercials and trailers, is currently being refurbished and re-equipped with two Fairlight Xynergi Media Production Systems, powered by Fairlight's Crystal Core (CC-1) engines.
Andrew Galletly, Audioprojects owner, said: "We placed an order for two Xynergi MPC96 systems after demoing the equipment at the AES exhibition in Amsterdam. We were very impressed by the simplicity of the control surface and the fact that Xynergi's fast editing and mixing interface delivers all the tools we need for high end audio for video production."
The systems Audioprojects has installed are being used for voice recording for lip sync, which forms the bulk of its business. The ability to network systems between studios is proving to be a major advantage as this allows the company to speed up workflow without compromising stability and synchronisation.
Galletly added: "My engineers absolutely love the new Xynergi systems. They can't believe how fast and intuitive these systems are and how much they can do with them. Every day, they are learning new techniques that are helping them to be more creative and to speed up workflow throughout the facility."
Established in 1989, Audioprojects dubs film and television material into English, Spanish, Italian, French, German and Catalan. Its international client list includes major TV networks, producers, distributors and publicity companies.
Galletly added: "Our main facility has been running with Fairlight Pyxis for some time. We now have 11 systems in operation and have always been very happy with their performance. Our good relationship with Fairlight was a major factor in our decision to invest in Xynergi."
Audioprojects opened its new studios in Barcelona in September - and its expansion has not ended there because the company is also building a Dolby Digital dubbing studio in the new 22@ district of Barcelona, which is rapidly becoming a media centre.
Galletly said: "Acoustician and studio designer Philip Newell is designing the new studio, which we hope to open in 2009. We are in the fortunate position of being able to attract work and voice-over talent from all over Europe."
