Women In Film Meet Target With Gok!

TV fashionista and advisor to millions of style-hungry women throughout the UK via his Channel 4 show 'How To Look Good Naked', Gok Wan will present the Women in Film and Television (WFTV) Awards 2008.
These prestigious awards, now in their 18th year, are held annually to honour the achievements of the women in the film, TV and digital media industries in the UK.
This year's awards ceremony will take place at the Hilton, Park Lane on 5th December.
With a career in the fashion industry spanning nearly a decade, Gok started out as a make-up artist for high end glossies and national newspapers before moving into the arena of fashion styling, working with some of the world's most renowned photographers, such as Rankin and Jason Joyce and style-conscious celebrities including Vanessa Mae and the All Saints' girls.
Kate Kinninmont, Chief Executive of WFTV UK explained the decision behind choosing Gok as the award's presenter, saying: "This is the first time in the history of our awards that we have invited a man to be host, but Gok is unique. He is a man who really understands women, and women of every age all over the country just love him!
"In an era of size zero models, where many TV shows tell us how to look better via injections of botulism and plastic surgery, Gok's mission is to inspire women to love themselves exactly as they are.
"The success that Gok has experienced reflects the appeal of his positive approach. We are delighted to have him present our awards to this year's outstanding women in the film and TV industry. He's also terrific fun and we're looking forward to our best awards ever!"
Gok said: "I'm honoured to have been asked to present the WFTV Awards 2008. The world of TV and film is akin to that of fashion. It's captivating, creative and energetic yet can also be extremely tough and highly competitive. This is a great opportunity to acknowledge, applaud and celebrate all those that have achieved in their chosen discipline."
This year's awards are sponsored by Target Entertainment Group, one of the leading international production and rights' management businesses worldwide.
Formed by Chief Executive Officer Alison Rayson as an international TV distribution company in 1998, it launched entertainment production, licensing and home entertainment divisions six years later.
Since then it has expanded further by setting up a children's and family production division and a feature film investment and sales arm.
Says Alison Rayson on the sponsorship deal: "Target Entertainment Group is ten years old this year and we're thrilled to celebrate this momentous occasion by supporting such a fabulous awards ceremony."
