September Films USA Wins New Commissions Worth $8.8m

DCD Media-owned September Films USA, the Los Angeles production arm of September Films, has won two major series commissions for US cable channels - 'The Exterminators', the producer's first original commission for A&E and Season Six of hit show 'Bridezillas' for WE: Women's Entertainment. The commissions are worth over $8.8m.
Due to air early in 2009, 'The Exterminators', is an exciting and provocative docu-series which goes behind the scenes of VEXCON, a family-run pest control company in the heart of Louisiana that was discovered by September Films' London-based Creative Director, Sheldon Lazarus.
VEXCON not only exterminates everyday bugs such as fire ants, roaches and kilelr bees, but also traps and releases wild racoons, alligators, deadly snakes, bobcats and other dangerous beasts that have infiltrated people's homes.
While the young charismatic boss of VEXCON, Billy Bretherton heads off to his often challenging assignments - sometimes with the assistance of his wife, little brother or his often-fuming father - Billy's mother juggles frantic phone calls back at the VEXCON headquarters. Though the Bretherton family is extremely close-knit they are often at odds as the fine line between running a family and running a business becomes unavoidably blurred.
Jeff Collins and Sheldon Lazarus are Executive Producers for September Films USA and the series has been commissioned for A&E by Elaine Frontain Bryant.
'Bridezillas' is WE: Women's Entertainment's flagship show and this latest series, due to air in June 2009, takes the franchise to 102 episodes, making it September’s first-ever 100-plus brand. A one-hour highlights special from Season Five has also been commissioned.
DCD Rights has already sold the first 79 hours of the show, in which fairytales become nightmares as brides-to-be turn into matrimonial monsters, to over 50 countries and will be launching Season Six at MIPCOM in October.
DCD Media's Chief Creative Officer, David Green, who originated the format and title in 2002, is Executive Producer for September Films USA alongside US-based, Drew Lesser, who is promoted to Executive Producer from Co-Executive Producer.
For WE, Steve Cheskin is Executive in Charge of Production and Danielle Ostroske is Executive Producer.
David Green said: "I am charged with growing DCD's US production presence and these two weighty commissions provide the perfect opportunity to rapidly expand our long-standing September Films LA operation into a bigger creative presence and initiate a Stateside push for other DCD factual companies like Prospect Pictures and West Park Pictures."
