Argosy Equipment Installed At MTV Network Europe

A leading international supplier of HD broadcast, cables and studio infrastructure products, Argosy, has announced the successful supply of a range of its infrastructure products for an installation at MTV Network Europe's headquarters in London.
The equipment, including an array of racks, plinths, mains distribution units, video patch panels, audio jack fields, HD cables and connectors provide the complete infrastructure backbone requirements for the new Central Apparatus Room (CAR) and Master Control Room (MCR) at MTV.
This project was phased over three years from initial design and specification to completion in July 2008. This included the replacement of MTV's entire CAR infrastructure - and the re-running of every interconnecting cable within the facility.
The CAR now passes over 50 MTV channels and provides additional services to MTV Studios including new talkback, an additional 12 occasional use satellite receivers and increased monitoring facilities.
The new facility also needed to be HD-ready so MTV chose to install Argosy's IMAGE HD cable throughout to ensure an easy transition to HD in the future.
Rob Cranfield, Senior Systems Engineer at MTV International, said: "This implementation of a new CAR at our facility was a mammoth task and we took our time to evaluate the products available on the market. Once a decision had been made to work with Argosy, it took a further 30 months to install all the equipment at our new facility because we had to phase the installation in a 'live environment' while the system was still on air.
"We chose Argosy for a number of reasons but primarily because of the breadth and quality of their product offering and their understanding of our mission-critical needs which was apparent during the evaluation period."
Cranfield continued: "It was Argosy's ability to address our specific requirements and the close collaboration with the company and particularly Chris Smeeton that ensured the success of this phased project."
