Chilliad Launches UK's First One-Stop-Shop For Mastering, Adaptation & Distribution

Chilliad – the UK's first end-to-end package for commercials mastering (telecine, visual effects and CG), global adaptations and digital distribution – is launching at the end of September 2008 to help streamline production costs, whilst creating a convenient one-stop-shop for anyone involved in the production and delivery of commercials.
BBH London’s new international Levis TV campaign, ‘Unbuttoned’, is the first project to benefit from this concept of streamlined production. Directed by Frederick Bond, all visual effects were created by Absolute Post’s Flame and CG teams.
Once the main master had been finished, Absolute set about adapting legals, supers and voice-overs for all global territories and partnered with an asset management specialist for global reversioning and distribution.
This entailed encoding for everything from bespoke website formats through to hi-res digital cinema, plus delivering to global TV stations and cinema chains. The process proved so successful that it provided the foundations for a brand new company – Chilliad.
Chilliad visual effects producer, Sean Feeny, said: "Chilliad gives clients immense convenience. It’s particularly well suited to fast-turnaround global retail campaigns. But it’s also ideal for hi-end creative jobs, like Levis. The latter don’t necessarily have a big budget for their big visual effects but, through Chilliad, this issue can be rebalanced by recouping costs through global adaptation charges. That said, clients are free to choose any part of Chillad’s offering; mastering is purely optional.”
Chilliad is the brain child of award-winning transatlantic post-production house, Absolute Post (www.absolutepost.co.uk) and digital asset management company, ChilliBean (www.chillibean.tv).
The idea was born after spotting a gap in the market for providing clients with just one solution to all their post production and distribution needs. Absolute Post provides all levels of post production – everything from award-winning pioneering visual effects for Levis to global adaptations for worldwide retail accounts like KFC; while ChilliBean’s expertise in the field of digital delivery means they have solutions for all different format requirements, both tape and digital.
