Liverpool FC.TV Limited Invests In ViewCast Niagara Streaming Encoder From ATG Broadcast

Liverpool FC.TV Limited is expanding its internet streaming output with the purchase of a ViewCast Niagara 6116 SDI encoder supplied by UK distributor ATG Broadcast.
The order follows successful tests of an evaluation unit deployed in July to stream matches with FC Lucerne and Wisla Krakow.
Matthew Quinn, Systems Co-ordinator at Liverpool FC.TV, said: "We have been using Viewcast Osprey cards successfully since 2001 as the basis of our webcasting service.
"Our new Niagara 6116 gives us the resource to stream very high quality video encoded direct from the SDI signal. It is very intuitive to operate and needed no elaborate product training. We have exclusive rights to webcast most of the pre-season games.
"Our strategy is to provide live broadcasts, online news, interviews, features and documentaries from Anfield, Melwood and the recently completed LFC TV broadcast studio."
Guy Elliott, ATG Broadcast Managing Director, said: "Liverpool Football Club is an example of internet television at its finest.
"Webcasting has proved a valuable extension of the services provided by traditional broadcasters, free from the restrictions of transmission footprints and UHF spectrum.
"First game streamed by Liverpool using its new encoder was the match with Glasgow Rangers on August 2. The match was not available as an on-air broadcast. Being streamed, it was accessible to viewers throughout the world."
The ViewCast Niagara 6116 is a single-channel analogue and digital processor, part of the 6100 and 6200 family of streaming media encoders. These are pre-configured plug-and-play encoding solutions enabling webcasters to capture and stream high quality audio and video quickly and easily.
Applications include video capture to file for archiving as well as repurposing video for internet and intranet distribution. The 6100 and 6200 family of plug-and-play streaming solutions are suitable for practically any streaming, archiving, or video production application.
Originally a joint venture between Liverpool Football Club and ITV established in 2000, Liverpool FC.TV is the media arm of the club and has pioneered the use of media technologies allowing LFC fans a high level of access and interactivity.
The official LFC website - www.liverpoolfc.tv - is firmly established as the most visited football club website in the world and the e-Season Ticket subscription product is the most successful in the Premiership with almost 50,000 subscribers and high quality content and interface technology emulated by similar products from other clubs.
ATG Broadcast will be at IBC2008 at Stand 8.B51.
