TSL Unveils Compact Rackmount Audio Monitoring Unit Featuring OLED Display Technology

Independent broadcast systems integrators TSL has announced the worldwide launch of its PAM (Precision Audio Monitor) range of audio monitoring units. The PAM1-3G8 is the first TSL rackmount monitoring unit to feature the flexibility of OLED displays for data and metering.
The Precision Audio Monitor range includes dual 3Ghz HD/SDI video inputs, Dolby D/E decoding plus a range of advanced features that make it one of the most comprehensive and intuitive rackmount audio monitoring products in today's market.
Marking a significant technological advancement, this is the first time that an OLED display has been designed for use in the audio monitoring market. The PAM1-3G8 shows bar graph and metadata values at high resolution, high visibility with low power consumption.
The new multi-standard, multi-format PAM1-3G8 is designed to simplify the monitoring of multichannel broadcast audio systems, whether Dolby E or discrete PCM bit streams. HD/SDI video formats up to and including the latest HD standard of 1080p at 60, 59.94 and 50 Hz can all be decoded on either of the two HD SDI inputs. Three user programmable shortcut keys enables the operator to recall commonly used input and output monitoring settings at the touch of a button, making the PAM1-3G8 one of the most user friendly rackmount AMU products available today.
Key standard features include:
  • Dual OLED bar graph with switchable menu/metadata display
  • User programmable memory keys for instant recall of input/output status
  • Dual auto-sensing 1080p (60, 59.94 and 50Hz), HD/SDI video inputs
  • De-embedded audio monitoring from video (HD/SDI) with intuitive selection from up to 16 channels (four groups)
  • Dolby E and D decoding from HD/SDI and AES signal sources
  • Intelligent monitoring of discreet multichannel PCM audio
  • Fixed and variable AES and Analogue monitoring outputs for ease of integration into 5.1 loudspeaker monitoring systems and 3rd party audio systems
Optional features include:
  • ITU BS1770/71 Loudness Monitoring
  • GPI control of preset recall
  • Custom configurations for non-standard surround sound track orders
  • Metadata display customisation
David Philips, TSL's CEO, commented: "We are delighted to announce this innovative and highly flexible new Audio Monitoring Unit at IBC today. TSL continues to make significant technological advancements in its product range and aims to continue to anticipate the needs of the rapidly changing requirements of the market. IBC offers an excellent platform for TSL to showcase its products and the team is looking forward to welcoming many customers to the stand."
TSL will be at IBC2008 in Amsterdam at Stand 10.B41.
