IgniterRT to be used on 'Cold Mountain'
The Aurora IgniterRT-311-Studio, distributed by Channel Dynamics, has been chosen by editor Walter Murch and director Anthony Minghella to edit the upcoming Miramax and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayor production of 'Cold Mountain'.
Starring Nicole Kidman, Jude Law, Renee Zellweger, and Natalie Portman, Cold Mountain is now several months into filming in Romania. Based on Charles Frazier’s best-selling novel, which quickly climbed to the #1 spot on the NY Times Best Seller list, Cold Mountain is the first, large-budget, motion picture to use Aurora's IgniterFilm 24 frame-per-second capabilities.
“We at Aurora have been waiting for this opportunity since the announcement of the IgniterFilm option,” said Darryl Hock CEO of Aurora Video Systems. “We have helped dozens of independent filmmakers with budget restrictions tell their stories in the film medium. Through the coming months of the Cold Mountain project, we plan to demonstrate that IgniterRT is an ideal solution for large-scale motion pictures as well.”
