The Feeling Vid Gets Rushed

A leading Soho-based post production facility, Rushes, has been celebrating the release of a new single, 'Join With Us', by The Feeling.
They recently undertook a special challenge and Crossroads Films and Rushes were a vital part of the initiative.
The 24-hour challenge, set by Capital 95.8’s Johnny Vaughan and Denise Van Outen on their breakfast show, was to film the music promo for 'Join With Us' in various locations around London.
All this was then downloaded, edited, looped and laidback to produce their most ambitious music video yet and in just 24 hours!
The completed promo premiered 24 hours later on the Capital 95.8 website and also on Sky One.
Rushes were approached by Executive Producer Trudy Bellinger and Producer Kwok Yau at Crossroads Films to take part and assist with the post production leg of the challenge.
Rushes' Colourist Simone Grattarola commented: "This was the fifth Feeling video I'd worked on…however it was the hardest.
"Everything else before had been so meticulously planned that in the final grade rather than having to save shots we were just finessing.
"The video was shot using the Red camera. Owen Oppenheimer cut the video on set, loading files onto his computer with each change in scene.
"After wrapping at 10.00pm, Owen and Caswell carried on cutting before coming into Rushes at 4.30am.
"Fuelled by Stella, chocolates and coffee we then mastergraded the final conformed video and the band ran the finished vid round to Capital at 7.30am."
Set in Osterley Park, the video is quintessentially British with the band in 1920's style outfits cycling around, lazing in city suits on deckchairs, running around in fields before the English weather rains on them (actually a rain machine, the weather was rather good that day ironically!), finally ending up in a night time fairground scene found in a secret garden.
The whole thing was shot on Red camera by Richard Mott, who captured some stunningly composed and lit shots.
Filming was also enhanced using some of the tobacco filters used in the field shots and added some warmth into some of the cloudier moments of the day.
"The final scene in the fairground was shot as night was falling so there were a few shots which needed a day for night look added but apart from these subtle enhancements the final piece is true to Richard's amazing, not only in terms of time restrictions, work," said Simone Grattarola.
Miquita Oliver, presenter of Channel 4’s T4 programme, followed the band's progress, from the set of the video through to editing and post production, which featured in a T4 special airing in August.
Podcast updates were broadcast on the Capital 95.8 website so fans could watch the band in action throughout the challenge.
