HHB Showcases Developments In Audio And AV Technology At IBC

Located as usual near the entrance to Hall 8 at Stand 8.E54, HHB consolidates its role as an innovator in broadcast audio technology at IBC2008 with some important new product launches.
Making a move into the AV sector, HHB's new UDP-89 Professional Universal DVD/CD Player combines high-end digital video performance with audiophile sound quality to provide broadcasters and system integrators with a dependable, feature-packed disc player engineered specifically for professional applications.
Housed in a robust, 1U rack-mounting chassis, the UDP-89 features a digital HDMI output alongside composite, S Video, component and RGB outputs, RS232 serial control, balanced & unbalanced stereo and surround sound analogue audio outputs and AES/EBU and S/PDIF digital audio outputs.
Visitors to IBC have an opportunity to win one of three UDP-89s by filling in their details on one of the special beer mats to be found in all the bars and restaurants in the 'Beach' area of the RAI (or on the HHB Stand) and dropping it at the stand.
Draws will take place at 5pm on Saturday, Sunday and Monday during the exhibition.
With a long and successful heritage in CD recording, HHB has launched a new recorder in this still ubiquitous format. The CDR-882 DualBurn features genuine dual recordable, dual drive configuration, resolving the inherent limitations of previous generation CD recorders by supporting seamless extended recording time across two or more discs, as well as simultaneous recording of two discs, high-speed duplication and intelligent disc management.
The HHB FlashMic is now become a portable recorder of choice for radio news journalists, with 500 units purchased by the BBC alone in the first half of 2008. The range now encompasses cardiod and omnidirectional models both with and without line inputs, with features including painless high-speed file transfer via USB, ease of operation, reliability and superior sound quality all contributing to the FlashMic’s widespread adoption by broadcasters including BSkyB, NRK Norway, Radio France, ORF, NHK Tokyo and Al Jazeera.
HHB’s specialist post-production division Scrub has assisted many broadcasters and independent post facilities to achieve workflow efficiencies and new creative opportunities through the installation of Digidesign Pro Tools/ICON technology.
Another product sure to be of interest to anyone working in post is Rosendahl's new bonsaiLAN, a Gigabit Ethernet module enabling the sharing of uncompressed QuickTime video on a bonsaiDRIVE network with file transfer speeds of 30-40 Megabytes per second – twice playback speed. Ingenious handling of the data enables users to begin editing before the file has finished uploading, allowing editing to begin on a sports event, for instance, while it is still being recorded.
HHB will be showing several products from RSS by Roland, including the S-4000 and S-1608 Digital Snake solutions currently used in broadcast, installation and touring.
HHB will also be displaying the Roland RSS M-400 V-Mixer. The 48-channel digital mixer, now shipping with Version 1.5 software, features an 8-way matrix, dedicated tap display, global aux mutes, plus easy splits for front-of-house, monitors, broadcast and recording, all delivered by REAC over CAT5 or optical cable.
Also on show at the HHB stand are the latest products from leading manufacturers including Genelec, Dolby, Lynx, Neumann, PreSonus, Rode, Universal Audio, Wohler, Yamaha and Zoom.
Finally, visitors to the HHB stand are also invited to collect their free copy of the HHB Catalogue 08/09.
