FremantleMedia Enterprises Announces Summer Sales Bonanza

News Image
FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME), a one-stop-shop for licensing, distribution and home entertainment, has announced sales of more than 700 hours of new shows.
The total sales include some 270 hours of premium music and entertainment programming and 260 hours of inspiring factual shows, all of which have been sold into a total of more than 40 territories worldwide.
Specifically, all territories in the Nordic region (Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland) have picked up three of FME's newest acquisitions - 'She's Got The Look', 'Oprah's Big Give' and 'DEA'.
Highlighting FME's ability to spot and set trends, its feel-good reality sub-genre has spurred the sale of more than 270 hours of programming. 'She's Got The Look', the modelling competition featuring contestants of 35 and over, has sold 108 hours across 18 territories "in the can" including the UK, France, Italy, Portugal, New Zealand and Thailand. The show has also sold twofold in the Netherlands with broadcaster SBS purchasing both tape and format rights. It's sub-genre companion, 'Oprah's Big Give', a reality show where contestants compete to give to others rather than to get for themselves, has also proved highly popular, selling over 160 hours to broadcasters such as Kanal 5 in Sweden, Ten in Australia and NBC/Hallmark in Asia (pan regional) and SBS in the Netherlands, which again purchased both tape and format rights.
Other recently launched brands going from strength to strength include 'DEA', the show which invites viewers to go undercover with a group of Special Agents and Officers in the Drug Enforcement Administration in Detroit, selling 66 hours to 11 territories including RTL Digital in Germany and BSkyB in the UK, and the recently acquired Travel Channel catalogue: 'Anthony Bordain's No Reservations', 'Andrew Zimmern's Bizarre Foods' and 'Sam Brown's Passport to China' which sold a total of 120 hours to 6 territories such as RTL in Germany and Raisat in Italy.
FremantleMedia also said that sexy Australian drama 'Satisfaction' is continuing to make solid and steady sales since its launch, with 180 hours sold in total to 18 territories, including brand new sales to SIC in Portugal and SBS in the Netherlands. Back by popular demand, the second series of 'Satisfaction' is now in production.
FME CEO David Ellender commented: "We are very pleased this substantial volume of new sales. Not only does it show the strength of our acquisitions and their appeal to international markets but also the reach of our sales force."
