University Of Ulster MA Documentary Student Wins UK Bursary
Kevin McSorley, a mature student at the University of Ulster from Tyrone, has won one of only five UK-wide bursaries (worth £750) from the One World Broadcasting Trust (OWBT) for his film on female Malian musicians.
Kevin will make his film over the summer months and enter it for his MA Documentary Practice dissertation.
The course director, Dr Cahal McLaughlin, remarked: "To have one of our students win this renowned bursary is a major achievement for our new course. It reflects the high quality of students that we are attracting."
The panel, including Mark Galloway (former C.E. at C4 and now Director at the International Broadcasting Trust), Andy Glynne (Director, OWBT), Hugh Purcell (consultant and former Managing Editor of BBC film documentaries) and Signe Glahn (Deputy-Director, OWBT) said that they had an exceptionally high number of applicants this year (30) from an unprecedented high number of film schools (11).
