Music Producers Aim For Better Client Access

Producers and engineers in the UK will be easier to access soon thanks to the Music Producers Guild (MPG) launching a new website.
It is designed to make it much easier for artists, artist managers and record company personnel to identify the right producer or engineer for forthcoming projects.
The new site, which was unveiled at the Apple Centre in London, incorporates new features including a sophisticated search facility where those looking for a recording professional can search by name and/or musical genre.
MPG members can upload their CVs and showcase their work via an audio player, making it much easier for potential clients to access their information.
MPG Chairman Mike Howlett said: "Recording professionals are vital to the success of the entire music industry, especially at the early stages of an artist's career when the expertise and guidance they bring to a project can make all the difference.
"However, identifying the right producer or engineer for a particular project is not always easy as recording professionals tend to be self employed and information about them has never been collated in one place before.
"Our new site aims to redress this issue by providing a one-stop 'shop' where recording professionals can showcase their CVs in an easy to access format.
"Over time, we believe this site will attract many more producers and engineers to MPG and provide artists and record companies with a valuable, time-saving resource," he explained.
Prior to re-designing its site the MPG conducted extensive research to identify the features and facilities that members and the music industry wanted.
