Speedyfunk TV Equips Trucks For HD With Advent's DVE5000

Speedyfunk TV, a live broadcast production company based in Munich and Vienna, has purchased two HD-ready DVE 5000 satellite transmission systems from UK manufacturer Advent Communications.
These are for new trucks which will be used by ORF and other broadcasters during EURO 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.
Speedyfunk operates a fleet of digital newsgathering trucks with satellite uplinks, cameras, editing and crews for live production.
Advent's DVE 5000 electronics system comprises an encoder for Standard Definition or High Definition with an integrated L-Band modulator and HPA, an Antenna Controller Unit with an optional Satfinder, a Drive Control Unit for motorised antennas and a new Block UpConverter for Ku band.
These four compact, weatherproof units are half the size of the traditional 19" rack mounted systems. They can be mounted in a satellite truck or they can be carried in flight cases. Speedyfunk has integrated its DVE 5000 units into trucks which are also equipped with Advent satellite uplinks.
Gert Kozak, Speedyfunk's Project Manager for the construction of the new trucks, said: "The DVE5000 gives us an encoder, an upconverter and an HPA controller all in one, so it's a very neat solution. It saves a lot of space in the truck and it creates less heat."
George Koumblis, Advent's Sales Director for EMEA, said: "Speedyfunk is a technology leader. They have been quick to move to High Definition, equipping their SNGs with new HD products purchased from Advent. We are very pleased that Speedyfunk has chosen to work with Advent for their HD projects. Our two companies have been working closely together for many years and have enjoyed a good working relationship."
Advent Communications supplies a range of satellite fly-aways and drive-aways that are known for their superb reliability in difficult conditions.
Speedyfunk bought their first digital newsgathering system in 1994, making them the first European production company to offer digital satellite transmission. Now, Speedyfunk works internationally, covering news and sports events all over Europe and the Middle East.
Advent Communications is part of the Vislink Group of companies, who are a leading company in the contribution technologies sector, taking a signal from outside broadcast to studio or play out centre.
