WBRZ-TV Invests In Ross' Vision Quattro And OpenGear

WBRZ-TV has invested in Ross' newest switcher platform with the purchase of a Vision Quattro 3.5 Multi-Definition Video Production Switcher, along with Ross openGear terminal equipment, to equip their HD build out.
Vision Quattro provides 4 keys per ME and up to 4 MEs, available in both a small and large chassis. The small chassis, Quattro MD, is a compact 3RU, offering four full 4-keyer MEs and 48 Multi-Definition inputs.
The large chassis, Quattro MD-X, offers four full 4-keyer MEs, 6 keys downstream and 96 multi-definition inputs.
openGear is one terminal equipment platform with over 100 solutions available from 16 different partners all within one common control and monitoring systems.
openGear, developed by Ross and offered to partner companies in the industry, allows partner companies to develop their own cards within openGear.
The openGear rackframe is a 2RU modular frame designed to accommodate up to 20 cards. A wide variety of cards are available from openGear terminal equipment manufacturers. This allows facilities the freedom and flexibility to choose the best technology for their particular applications and not be locked into one manufacturer's frame standard and module choices.
Cards from all openGear manufacturers adhere to common control protocols and are controllable via the Ross DashBoard and openGear control system, which allows quick and easy IP based monitoring and control over all frames and modules on the network.
Clyde Pierce, Chief Engineer for WBRZ-TV, said: "The Vision Quattro Multi-Def Switcher offered us a tremendous amount of capability for a good price.
"We also selected Ross for our infrastructure gear because they are part of the openGear frame standard.
"This definitely puts us in a great position when looking towards the future, as there are a wide range of manufacturers supporting the openGear platform."
Jared Schatz, Regional Sales Manager of Southeast Region, said: "We are very excited that WBRZ-TV chose Ross to assist in their HD broadcast needs.
"Vision Quattro and openGear are industry leading products that will anchor WBRZ's state-of-the-art facility."
Ross Video designs, manufactures and supports a wide range of innovative products for use in live production applications in over 100 countries.
Ross' award-winning product line includes the Vision Quattro, Synergy, SD and Synergy MD/X Video Production Switchers, openGear, RossGear and GearLite Terminal Equipment, SoftMetal Video Servers and the OverDrive Production Control System.
