Irish Short Selected For Tribeca Film Festival

The award-winning Irish short film 'New Boy' has been selected for screening at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival, which will take place between April 23 and May 4.
Directed by Steph Green and produced by Tamara Anghie and Zanzibar Film as part of the IFB's Short Cuts scheme, 'New Boy' will screen among 79 international shorts, which were selected from 2,497 submissions for the festival.
'New Boy' is based on a short story by Roddy Doyle and captures the experience of being the new boy in school through the eyes of Joseph, a nine-year-old African boy.
'New Boy' recently won the Best Short Film award at this year's Irish Film and Television Awards and won the Audience Award for Best International Short at last year's Corona Cork Film Festival.
It has already screened at festivals in Berlin, Malmo, San Francisco, Dublin and Galway among others.
The Tribeca short film series is created by filmmaker Isabella Rossellini.
Films from actors Matthew Modine and Rider Strong have also been selected alongside a short penned by 'Babel' writer Guillermo Arriaga.
All 79 shorts will compete for $15,000 in prizes.
