SISLink To Demonstrate Pioneering Products At Broadcast LIVE & Video Forum 2008

SISLink is preparing to demonstrate three of its state-of-the-art broadcast solutions at Broadcast LIVE & Video Forum 2008.
This will give those, yet to experience SISLink’s highly innovative technology, the opportunity to see the new HD dual antenna truck, uPod Drive Fly and IP vehicle.
With a highly skilled team responsible for the research, design and development of some of the most pioneering products seen in the industry, it’s easy to see why SISLink has remained at the forefront of the satellite services sector for so for many years.
One of the products to be demonstrated at the forum will be the dual antenna HD truck, which has successfully completed its first season of F1 operation. Developed for maximum resilience and reliability, the HD truck is one of the most complex and highly specified uplink trucks ever built – designed specifically to provide uplinks for ITV Sport’s European F1 coverage under a four-year contract.
Jon Pearce, Technical Producer for ITV Sport, commented: “SISLink has offered an impressively high level of service utilising their newly bespoke built dual antenna uplink truck. ITV Sport chose SISLink for our prestigious F1 coverage due to their growing reputation for large event coverage, plus their investment in new technologies and ability to build and maintain all of their uplink systems in-house.”
He continued: “The success of the F1 coverage allowed us to confidently contract SISLink to cover other major sports events in 2007 – including the Rugby World Cup in France – where SISLink provided up to 10 uplinks for HD/SD matches and sports news feeds.”
Also on demonstration will be uPod Drive Fly, this highly portable, and sophisticated uplink solution with its sleek and innovative design - not only packs in all of uPod’s functionality, but also offers unrivalled flexibility through its ability to be easily disassembled into small, lightweight and airline baggage approved units (under 32Kg) – ready for transportation across the globe. SISLink’s in-house design team are working on more products to be released in 2008, including the uPod Micro, developed for the European market and to help support SISLink and Intelsat’s launch of products and services in the US.
SISLink has recently secured a contract with Sky Sports News, for bespoke SNGs and satellite services providing live sports inserts available 24 hours a day. The contract includes the provision of two highly specified leased uplinks for critical sports news coverage plus contribution coverage of live feeds to the Gillette Soccer Saturday and Soccer Special programmes; SISLink also provide uplink services for other Sky Sports events including league 1, league 2, FA cup and Euro 2008 qualifying football matches across Europe.
The past year has seen an exceptional increase in the volume of IP Services that SISLink is providing to clients and has included the acquisition of FatPipe Satcom, a specialist IP satellite service provider. FatPipe runs a significant number of mobile and fixed terminals, which will be used to give SISLink’s clients cost-effective access to satellite IP links. These services include IP based networks providing broadband internet connectivity to both mobile and fixed terminals. These are frequently used by vehicle based facilities to provide extremely robust and high quality broadband internet connections from anywhere in the British Isles or beyond. Examples include Police Incident Command Units, Fire services vehicles, Libraries and Community buses. SISLink operate their own IP iDirect platform in Milton Keynes, utilising their vast array of cost effective satellite capacity offering unrivalled accessibility and low cost connections.
