Green Inc. Film And Television Commissioned By TG4 To Produce Second Series Of 'Deis Roc'

Green Inc. Film and Television, one of the UK’s leading Factual Entertainment production companies, has been commissioned by Irish language Broadcaster TG4 to produce a second extended series of hit Music entertainment series 'Deis Roc'.
Deis Roc (10x30-minutes and 1x50-minute), co-produced with Irish Production Company Tobar Productions, is a ‘battle of the bands’ style competition where amateur groups and solo artists will compete for a chance to win €10,000 cash. The acts are short-listed from an initial entry to take part in the 11 week series for a place in the live final held at Belfast’s top venue, the Students’ Union at Queen’s.
Tobar Productions has produced a number of documentaries and entertainment programmes for TG4 since its formation in 2003. This is its third co-production with Green Inc. A jointly produced children’s series was nominated for an IFTA award last year.
Hosted by TG4’s Síle Ní Bhraonáin, every week two acts will go head-to-head in front of a studio audience to perform an original song in English and a second in Irish. A panel of industry experts will advise the artists on their performance during each show before a public vote is held to determine who will progress. The panel will include Jim Lockharte of the Horslips, Ronan Ó Snodaigh of Kíla and Karen Kirby from the BBC.
Stephen Stewart, Managing Director of Green Inc., said: "Our focus is always to entertain and we continue to do this through developing interesting and exciting formats which continue to be successful. The last series of Deis Roc attracted record audience calls for a TG4 series. We’re delighted to continue producing great Gaelic content with TG4."
Deis Roc is a Green Inc. TV and Film production with Tobar Productions for TG4. The series is commissioned by Prioinsias Ni Ghrainne, commissioning editor TG4 and produced by Philip Campbell, Director of Tobar Productions and executive produced by Stephen Stewart, Green Inc. The series is co-founded by TG4 & ILBF.
