FremantleMedia Sells 'Amercian Idol' To FOXTEL

FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has announced the sale of the number one hit US and global show 'American Idol', to FOXTEL.
The multi-year deal, closed at MIPCOM, will see Australia's leading subscription television provider airing the show for the first time on FOXTEL's primary channel FOX8.
The eagerly anticipated series seven of the show will air from January 2008 onwards in tandem with the US broadcast.
Brian Walsh, Executive Director Television and Marketing, at FOXTEL said: "We are thrilled to add American Idol to our dynamic 2008 schedule. The history-making series, that has un-paralleled global success, will be a sure-fire hit for our viewers."
Paul Ridley, Senior Vice President, Sales, Asia Pacific at FME, who brokered this deal said: "It's a terrific show and am delighted to have concluded this agreement which I'm sure will have a very satisfactory result for FOXTEL and FOXTEL viewers."
