ITN Deal Will Allow Free Access For 'Five' Commissioned Television Producers

ITN Source has signed a new six-figure, two year deal with UK broadcaster Five, which gives television producers commissioned by the channel free access to ITN Source's extensive video content library.
Independent production companies making programmes for Five and its digital sister channels Five US and Five Life will have unlimited access to all footage libraries contained within ITN Source's exceptional content offering.
ITN Source has over 800,000 hours of material, including the Granada, Channel 4, ITN, Reuters and British Pathe collections as well as a growing catalogue of HD stock footage, which is all available through the deal. The licence agreement covers unlimited UK transmissions across a five year period.
In the last five years, 96 indies have benefited from similar arrangements between ITN Source and Five, with nearly 200 programmes produced for the channel incorporating footage sourced through the agreement. The deal provides a simple, flexible and transparent way for programme-makers to obtain and license archive content quickly and cost-effectively, enabling production budgets to go further and making more content from the ITN Source catalogue available.
Simon Wood, Key Account Director, ITN Source, said: "ITN Source recognises and understands the creative and budgetary pressures facing independent production companies. We are delighted to continue our close relationship with Five and have worked closely to create a flexible deal that gives their producers free and easy access to ITN Sources phenomenal content, allowing indies to concentrate on the important business of creating first rate original television."
Chris Shaw, Senior Programme Controller, Five, added: "This deal makes a lot of sense for us editorially and financially. It gives our suppliers unlimited access to an excellent archive and allows us to predict and control a big chunk of production costs."
