APT sign Korean licensing agreement

One year after announcing a multi-million pound licensing deal with South Korean firm Open Solution, Belfast-based Audio Processing Technology (APT), have signed an additional exclusive licensing agreement.
The deal is for the use of Open Solution's Enhanced 16, 20 and 24-bit algorithms for wireless semiconductor applications.
The official signing took place in South Korea, between Noel McKenna, Managing Director of APT, and Dr Jongwook Kim, CEO of Open Solutions.
The end solution takes the form of a custom designed application specific standard product, the DWM3000. This will enable wireless audio to be used in a variety of consumer devices such as wireless headphones for personal audio players, loudspeakers and DVD players.
The extension of the existing licensing agreement is viewed as a major achievement for APT and one that is likely to generate healthy royalty revenue when the production of consumer electronics products incorporating the chips begins.
