Lion To Reveal Heart Of 'Silbury Hill' For BBC Four

Lion Television has been commissioned by BBC Four to produce Silbury Hill, a 1x60 minute archaeological documentary charting the final exploration of the interior of Silbury Hill. English Heritage granted Lion exclusive access to the Hill and the work of its archaeologists and engineers.
Located in Wiltshire, Silbury Hill is the largest man-made mound in Europe. Archaeologist Neil Oliver (Coast, The History Detectives) and social anthropologist Mary-Ann Ochota (Castaway) will attempt to uncover why Silbury Hill was built as well as discover the story of the people who helped build it.

These were sophisticated people, whose beliefs drove them to sculpt the landscape of the Avebury area, leaving a legacy of great structures. Why they built the hill has remained a mystery for thousands of years, but now we are starting to understand the extraordinary times in which they lived; a world on the cusp of great change.”
Silbury Hill is a Lion Television production for BBC Four commissioned by Martin Davidson. The documentary, produced in association with Chris Corden productions, will be directed by George Williams, produced by George Williams and Chris Corden and executive produced by Bill Locke for Lion Television.
It will be distributed by All3Media International.
