Neil Jordans 'The Brave One' Reaches Top Spot At US Box Office
Irish director Neil Jordan is No.1 at the US Box Office this week with his latest film 'The Brave One' after it took $14m at the weekend.
Starring Jodie Foster, The Brave One tells the story of Erica Bain (Foster) who finds her world turned upside down after herself and her fiancé are attacked and savagely beaten by a trio of thugs during a stroll through Central Park. The attack leaves her fiancé dead and Erica seeking revenge.
The vigilante film is said to be reminiscent of cult classics 'Death Wish' starring Charles Bronson and 'Taxi Driver' starring Robert De Niro and attempts to tap into post 9/11 anxieties and comment on the very American idea of righteous payback.
