Joffe's 'You And I' Wraps Principal Photography In Moscow

Principal photography was recently completed on the edgy coming-of-age drama 'You And I'.
Previously titled 'Finding t.A.T.u', the contemporary plot was derived from the novel 't.A.T.u come back’ penned by Russian delegate A. Mitrofanov. Adapted for the screen by writers Shawn Schepps (Weeds), You And I is described as an "exciting, stylistic departure" for the Director Roland Joffe whose previous successes include 'The Killing Fields' and 'The Mission'.
Shot entirely on location in and around Moscow, You And I has attracted a top notch cast: Mischa Barton (The O.C., Closing the Ring, The Sixth Sense, Don’t Fade Away) has taken on the role of the beautiful, streetwise Lana Starkova with newcomer Shantel VanSanten (Three Wise Guys, Savage Spirit) as Janie. The cast also includes Anton Yelchin (Alpha Dog, Charlie Bartlett) as the rich playboy, Edward Nikitin, Alex Kaluzhsky (Zip, Goodbye Baby) as the former pop-idol, Steve, Charlie Creed-Miles (Nil by Mouth, White Teeth) as his unscrupulous manager, Ian and Helena Mattsson (Americanizing Shelley, Species IV) as the mysterious Kira.
Set against a background of music, internet chatrooms and hedonistic Moscow nightlife, the story follows friendless American teenager Janie Sawyer who is trying to escape her lonely life in Moscow through her love of music. Janie meets Lana Starkova in a fansite for the popular pop-band t.A.T.u. Trapped in a provincial Russian town, Lana’s desperate to flee her mundane life and the two girls develop an instant connection. Their trip to a t.A.T.u concert becomes the catalyst for a series of adventures that will not only test their newfound friendship but also their ideals and aspirations.
You And I will also boast an innovative soundtrack featuring original material from the popular Russian duo t.A.T.u alongside tracks from their forthcoming new album. t.A.T.u themselves have been persuaded to make a small cameo appearance in the feature.
The film is being produced by Leonid Minkovksi and Serge Konov from the Mosfilm based RAMCO (Captivity, Kinofestival) and Stephen Nemeth (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, What We Do is Secret) of Rhino Films.
