Avitech Supplies ALIMAGE With MCC-8004 Universal Multiviewers

Avitech International Corporation, an industry leader in multi-image display processors has announced that through SAV, a French-based broadcast equipment reseller, manufacturer, and systems integrator, Avitech has supplied ALIMAGE with a series of MCC-8004 Universal Multiviewers for one of their OB vans supporting the Tour De France cycling event.
Avitech’s MCC-8004 series of Multiviewers are located at the heart of one of ALIMAGE’ OB support vans. The multiviewers drive several NEC displays (1600 x 1200 at 50 Hz) monitoring a variety of activities during the sporting event. The MCC-8004 modules were primary used to display a variety of signals received from helicopters and motorbikes monitoring the cycling event. During the live monitoring of feeds, the production crew utilized Avitech’s enhanced button-driven GPI feature for switching between eight different monitoring configurations, and layout changes.
In addition to monitoring the incoming video feeds on Avitech multiviewers, the production crew monitored the event statistics, various graphics related to participant positions, ‘results’ graphics and much more. These on-air graphics serve a key and fill function that feed the rest of the OB van fleet.
The Avitech systems are designed to work efficiently in sports production environments, offering key features such as; combining HD-SDI, SD-SDI and analog video sources as well as on-screen alarm indicators for video and audio status, exceptionally low power consumption, embedded audio monitoring, and tally, all while maintaining the correct aspect ratio whether it be 4:3 or 16:9.
In this particular application, the MCC-8004 series of multiviewers are integrated closely with interface equipment from Snell & Wilcox, Grass Valley, and graphics equipment and cards from VIZRT and Matrox.
“After close examination of the available multiviewer technology on the market, we choice Avitech because of their high level of quality, powerful video processing and the remarkable value for the price,” said Frédéric Lemaire, ALIMAGE Technical Director. “Plus, the modules offer real-time configuration without the need to download a piece of software, saving us time. And, since Avitech has such a modular concept, we can re-use the MCC-8004 units in a variety of other applications throughout the year.”
The Avitech series of MCC-8004 multiviewers will be on display at the upcoming IBC2007 tradeshow in Amsterdam, The Netherlands – September 7-11, 2007, Stand 11.651.
