'The Young Victoria' To Begin Filming In The UK In August

Rising British actor Rupert Friend takes his place alongside Emily Blunt’s young Queen Victoria as her Prince Albert, in the dramatic feature film 'The Young Victoria' set to begin lensing on location in the UK in August.
Produced by Academy award winners Graham King and Martin Scorsese the film is directed by Jean Marc Vallee from a script by Academy Award winning Julian Fellowes.
Friend was voted Most Promising Newcomer in 2005 by the British Independent Film Awards for his haunting performance in 'The Libertine' opposite Johnny Depp. He next appeared in Universal’s box office hit and four-time Academy Award nominated 'Pride and Prejudice,' starring Kiera Knightley, as the callous Mr Wickham. Friend is currently shooting Miramax’s 'The Boy in Striped Pyjamas' by helmer Mark Herman. Other upcoming projects include The Weinstein Company’s 'The Last Legion' alongside Colin Firth and Ben Kingsley and the romantic comedy 'Virgin Territory' starring Hayden Christensen and Mischa Barton.
The Young Victoria chronicles Victoria's rise to power, focusing on the early turbulent years of her reign and her legendary romance and marriage to Prince Albert.
Golden Globe winner Emily Blunt plays the warm hearted and lively Queen. British born, Blunt’s career has ascended to international fame following her breakout performance in the box office hit 'The Devil Wears Prada'. Blunt received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance as the caustic put upon assistant to Miranda (Meryl Streep.) The same year she won the Golden Globe for her supporting role in the BBC’s TV movie 'Gideon’s Daughter'.
The Young Victoria will be directed by the acclaimed Jean Marc Vallee who most recently shot the successful hit feature film 'C.R.A.Z.Y'
Vallee will direct The Young Victoria from a script penned by Academy Award winning writer Julian Fellowes. Fellowes’ screenplay for 'Gosford Park' earned him numerous accolades including an Academy Award received in 2002.
